Assistance Programs
AGC Charities, Inc. supports individuals in need throughout communities across the United States by providing disaster assistance to individuals that have been impacted by a natural or man-made disaster and also provides special assistance to construction craft workers or other construction professionals who fall victim to natural or other catastrophes.
The Charity may provide Special Assistance either to individuals or to organizations, and it may do so either on its own initiative or in response to a request. In the process of granting such assistance, the Charity will not only seek to serve charitable or other humanitarian purposes but also seek to enhance the construction industry’s standing within the communities that it serves.
The Charity will grant Special Assistance directly to one or a few individuals only if those individuals or their families have suffered economic or personal hardship in the course of employment in the construction industry or in the process of providing other service to it. The Charity will grant Special Assistance to many or most of the members of a particular community only if that community merits the special attention of the construction industry on a widely recognizable platform. The Charity expects to channel most of its Special Assistance through organizations already providing Special Assistance to such communities or seeking to enhance the nation’s quality of life in ways that merit the attention of the construction industry.
Examples of the organizations and individuals that might merit Special Assistance (depending on the facts and circumstances) include but are not limited to the following:
- the Red Cross;
- the Salvation Army;
- the United Way;
- the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America;
- the Boys and Girls Clubs of America;
- other non-profit organizations that provide food, lodging, clothing or other assistance to the economically disadvantaged;
- other non-profit organizations that sponsor pre-school, after school and summer programs and activities for economically disadvantaged or otherwise deserving youth.
